Coco Gauff‘s popularity has risen following her historic Grand Slam victory. Looking at the way the 19-year-old tennis sensation won her first Grand Slam title at the US Open this year, she has seen a rise on and off the tennis court. After this, there are a lot of discussions going on about whether she will be the future of tennis or not.

While Iga Swiatek and Aryna Sabalenka have started to uplift the upcoming generation of WTA, Gauff’s contribution is much needed. Recently, tennis Australia CEO Craig Tiley disclosed how the 2023 US Open Champions’ growing dominance can be directly connected to the growing popularity of sports.

Coco Gauff’s growing popularity can benefit the sport

The way the third-ranked tennis player is creating waves on the tennis circuit, she has started to create her own fanbase. Recently, tennis Australia’s CEO, in an interview with We Are Tennis, talked about how her achievements and her gameplay on the tennis court can benefit the sport in the bigger picture. Along with that, he also talked about how the game is lucky to have a player like her who can be trusted in the future.

He said, “We came through an era of having great champions, American champions.  We have the U.S. players reaching the highest levels of the game. That’s why Coco Gauff is going to be so great for the sport. It is the commercial engine of the sport globally. So, I think that’s great for the sport, having more of that. I do see some light at the end of the tunnel with that.”

While that was not it, he not only addressed the 19-year-old as a good asset for the sport. He also tagged her as the ‘commercial engine’. In addition, Tiley also showed confidence in her, saying that the teenage sensation has the capability to take the sport to great heights globally.

Not only that, a few months ago Serena Williams’ childhood coach talked highly about the 19-year-old tennis star’s unlimited explosive potential to give her best on the court.

A few days following her victory at the US Open, the third-ranked tennis player made a strong impression on Rick Macci. The 42-year-old American tennis icon’s coach said he found himself enthralled by Gauff’s indisputable influence. He tweeted his pride and reflected on the remarkable journey of the 19-year-old.

Macci further stated that one of the biggest reasons he loves the American teenage sensation is her unlimited potential. In addition, he gave an illustration of how, similar to icing a cake, she could continue adding more and it would only become better.
