It is turning out to be quite a year for 16-year-old tennis sensation Mirra Andreeva. She is already turning heads at the ongoing Roland Garros, which marks her debut at a grand slam event. Apart from her talent and skills on the court, Andreeva is also winning the hearts of fans all over the world with her extremely likable and lively personality. She recently hailed current world number 7 Ons Jabeur as her idol and expressed her desire to get on the court for a practice session with the Tunisian.

Now, Jabeur has reciprocated her love and admiration back to the teenage starlet in her latest post-match interview. While being asked about her, here is what she had to say.

Andreeva showed glimpses of her off-court charm when she made her admiration for Ons Jabeur known. She even wished for a practice session with Jabeur. It was Ons’ turn to show some love.

On being asked about the young Russian, she said, “I’m really impatient to practice with her & to see her level bc if she’s in the 3rd round, it’s because she has something. I hope that the world of tennis will protect her because we need girls like her.”

Jabeur also mentioned that the rise of someone with as much talent as Andreeva is beneficial for the sport in general. It goes on to show that Andreeva’s on-court skills along with her sweet and charming demeanor have struck a chord with her peers and the fans alike.

The breakthrough talent is making a mark on the WTA circuit as she made her way to the third round of the French Open in impressive fashion, in only her first appearance at a major. She eased past both her opponents in round 1 and round 2 of Roland Garros with straight-set victories.
