Emma Raducanu is a player who is constantly falling down the pecking order, particularly when it comes to fan sentiment. When she broke into the professional circuit, she created history right away. She became the first British woman to win a Grand Slam since 1977 when she won the 2021 US Open as a qualifier. Raducanu has created high expectations ever since that achievement. But her season so far has been a bit of a disappointment. She got injured prior to the Australian Open in a match where she won the first set without losing a game. Later, she was expected to appear in the ATX Open. However, illness stopped her from competing in the tournament.

It disappointed many fans of Raducanu as they were hoping for another dominant performance. Fans have become doubtful of her performance and think she may be going away from tennis, like the former Russian star, Anna Kournikova.

After Raducanu announced that she would not be playing in the ATX Open, fans have started questioning the Brit’s loyalty to tennis. Many think that she may be going down the path of Anna Kournikova. Kournikova, who retired in 2003 due to a severe spinal injury, went down a similar path during her active years. While she was playing, her focus seemed to be more on advertisements, movies and endorsements.

Even her doubles partner believed that Kournikova needed stretches where she was on complete rest. To some fans, Raducanu seems to be on the same track; signing every endorsement and ads that comes her way, but rarely playing in tournaments.
