Ashleigh Barty, who shocked the tennis world by retiring earlier this year, recently opened up about her possible comeback. The Australian tennis ace stumbled upon the question of whether she, like Serena Williams, would consider rejoining the circuit ever again. While Williams walked out of the sport at the age of 41. Barty hung her racket at just 26 with the crown of World no.1 still under her possession.

Therefore, people are curious about her comeback plans, if there are any. However, she seems to have no interest in gripping her racket again.

Ash Barty about making a comeback

Barty visited the Melbourne Park on Tuesday to recall the sweet memories of her 2022 Australian Open victory and cleared her stance on a possible comeback. She bluntly said, “I’m done.”

Although her retirement came as a shock for tennis fans, people who are close to her already knew she was at that stage. Hence, when asked about her earlier ‘never say never’ comment, she had a rigid response. “Never!” she said. “I’m done … No, no, no.”

It has been an incredibly emotional season for most tennis fans as many legends of the sport said goodbye. Other than Barty and Williams, the 20-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer, the French star Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, and the Argentine sensation, Juan Martin del Potro also marked the end of their careers. And no one other than the 23 times Grand Slam champion Williams wishes to make a return.

Barty’s marvelous tennis career

Though the 26-year-old’s career was short, she tasted immense success on the Tour. She started her career in the year 2010 when the Williams sisters were dominating the sport. Barty touched a career-high ranking of World no.1 for the first time in the year 2019 and held it for 121 weeks.

Further, in the last three years of her career, she secured her first Wimbledon, French Open and Australian Open titles. In the case of the US Open, she reached the round of 16 in singles and claimed the title alongside CoCo Vandeweghe in 2018. Also, she represented and brought Australia a bronze medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Barty packed her bags forever in March 2022 with a pile of 15 singles and 12 doubles trophies.
