For a Top 5 player like Jabeur, her Slam result was surely underwhelming. Qinwen Zheng completely outclassed her with a 6-2 6-4 win at the Louis Armstrong Stadium. With this defeat, the Tunisian will also fall down two spots in the WTA ranking to number 7. But strangely enough, a certain ranking update keeps Jabeur happy about the tournament’s outcome.

How does Ons Jabeur keep herself happy with the US Open outcome?

A drastic ranking change took place at this year’s US Open. Iga Swiatek‘s 74-week reign of terror finally came to an end following her fourth-round exit after facing off with Jelena Ostapenko. Jabeur spoke about the change of guard in her post-match press conference. She said, “I’m so happy for Aryna. She deserves to be No.1. She deserved that for a long time ago. Definitely the match yesterday was very interesting. Not so many people surprised because Jelena can play amazing games. That’s the beauty of WTA, to find different heroes.”
