Venus and Serena Williams Handed Tough Draw In Their Last Tournament Together at the 2022 US Open

Last week, Venus and Serena Williams announced some exciting news for their fans. The Williams sisters announced that they will be teaming up to play doubles at the US Open. It will be the last time that fans will be able to see them play together as Serena will hang up her boots after the tournament.

Fans will be thronging the stadium to catch a glimpse of the Williams sisters in action. However, they have a difficult road in their last Grand Slam tournament together.

Who will Venus and Serena Williams face at the 2022 US Open?

The 14-time Grand Slam doubles champions have been drawn to face the Czech Republican pairing of Lucie Hradecka and Linda Noskova in the first round of the US Open. Lucie Hradecka is a two-time Grand Slam doubles champion and a former World Number 4. Additionally, she also won a silver medal at the 2012 London Olympics.

Further, if Serena and Venus manage to move past the first round, they will potentially face the 13th seeds, Alexa Guarachi and Andreja Klepac. A potential clash with the top seed pairing of Veronika Kudermetova and Elise Mertens will await the Williams sisters in the third round of the tournament.

Elsewhere, the American pairing of Coco Gauff and Jessica Pegula are the second seeds at the tournament. Recently, Gauff had become the top-ranked player in women’s doubles. They will face Leylah Fernandez and Daria Saville in the opening round.

The Williams sisters are two-time doubles champions at the US Open. They had won the title at Flushing Meadows in 1999 and 2009 as a team. Serena and Venus will look to replicate their success in this year’s tournament.
