The biopic ‘King Richard’ about Richard Williams’ journey created a lot of buzz even before its release on the silver screen. However, looking at the numbers, the movie about Venus and Serena Williams’ father hasn’t done as well as they would have expected on the Box Office. The Will Smith starring film was billed to be a blockbuster but hasn’t quite delivered in terms of its earnings.

How much has ‘King Richard’ earned on the Box Office?

‘King Richard’ tells the remarkable story of young Venus and Serena Williams, and their single-minded dedication to become the greatest of all time in tennis. Richard, along with coach Rick Macci, transformed the scenario of WTA by coaching the mighty Williams sisters.

However, when we look at the financial numbers of the movie, they don’t look satisfactory. The production cost, i.e. budget of the movie was approximately $50 million. Unfortunately, to date, the biopic hasn’t even recovered that amount. The movie has generated around $26.7 million so far, which is just over half of the budget.

The movie first released for the public on 19th November 2021. However, it hasn’t received the response from audiences that the Williams sisters would have hoped for.

Serena Williams said,No word describes it better than surreal. Just to see these incredible actresses and everyone behind it just putting this all together about our dad’s journey but, because of myself and my sister, it really is like, ‘Wow, OK, really? Are we really something?'”
