Venus Williams recently made a comeback at competitive tennis after suffering a knee injury at Wimbledon last year. However, her comeback journey didn’t start well as Russian tennis sensation Diana Shnaider defeated her in the first-round match at the Miami Open. But fans were over the moon seeing some of her vintage shots during the game. Also, the presence of her sister Serena Williams inside the stadium made the day even better.

Miami Open is a very special tournament for both sisters. They had faced each other for the first time in their careers in this tournament. Since then they have clinched 11 titles together in the Miami Open. Both the sisters have always showcased their support towards each other since their childhood. Recently Venus Williams appeared at ‘The School of Greatness’ podcast and revealed how once Serena Williams had rescued her prior to a big final.

Venus Williams added that it was so bad that, “Like, I didn’t even realize it was match point, because I was like, out of my mind. And I think it’s gonna pass. So finally, you know, we had two hours to prepare for the match after her singles. And I’m just thinking it’s still gonna pass…hours later, she was smart. I don’t know why I didn’t figure this out. She got the doctor, made sure I got the right medicine, that I needed.” She said she still doesn’t know why she couldn’t figure out this simple solution at that time.

She just thought that it would pass normally by taking normal medicines. “She fixed it for me. And that was huge. We got another title. And I could actually finally eat something so that we would have some energy for the match. So yeah, those those kinds of things. And you know, that’s a huge example,” Venus Williams.

Serena Williams once spoke about an incident in which she realized just before lunch that she didn’t have any money. As per the rules of that particular school, those who didn’t have money for lunch had to stand in a special line and get a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Something which perhaps Serena Williams hated. So, she went to her big sister and told her about it.

I told Venus the deal, and what did she do? She reached into her pocket and handed me her lunch money. She didn’t even think about it. She just said, “I’ll have the peanut butter and jelly sandwich. I like peanut butter and jelly,” Serena Williams said. Then, two years ago, Serena Williams also revealed how Venus Williams helped her to build back her self-confidence.
