The world always witnessed the two Williams sisters together but now since the younger sister’s retirement, Venus is out there living her tennis dream all alone. However, in a recent interview she opened up about how the journey would have been much more difficult without her sister.

She stated “To be honest. I can’t imagine not going through with her. I can’t imagine that other people play professional sports without a sibling because that’s my normal. So l’m like how do you do it? So I’m asking other people how do you not have a sibling that’s playing with you? Which is a weird way to look at it, but it’s what it is.

On the other hand, even after nearly two years since Serena’s retirement, fans are still wondering if Venus will also “evolve” away from tennis like her sister. Venus’ recent candid interview on Good Morning America might have fueled those speculations further. During the interview, the 44-year-old tennis legend shared details about her life off the court in her recently released book, Strive: 8 Steps to Find Your Awesome

Venus also touched upon the 2024 US Open, noting how close American players were to clinching the coveted title this year. When asked if she misses being in the heart of the tennis action, Venus reflected, “I haven’t played since March. I’ve been doing other things like writing this book, so I’ve been busy. But it’s good to have different things in life. I think it makes you appreciate, you know, other parts.”

In 2023, Venus Williams firmly dismissed any speculation about her retirement, hinting at her determination to continue playing into the 2024 season. Despite being one of the oldest active players on the tour, Venus showed no signs of slowing down, driven by her passion for the sport and her unwavering competitive spirit. Interestingly, it was her younger sister, Serena Williams, who played a key role in halting Venus from making the big retirement decision.

In tennis, the Williams sisters have left an unmatched legacy. Venus and Serena have captivated fans on and off the court with their combined 122 titles and innumerable records. For tennis fans, though, their retirements are bittersweet. Venus Williams’ statement from January 2024, “My little sister, Serena, told me I’m not allowed to quit, and of course, I would never quit. But it’s the mandate. She said no, so I will be back on the court.
