In a question-and-answer session over her Instagram, she shared the news of how with her sister’s retirement from the sport influenced her decision.

The former world number one has left tennis fans all around the world in despair with the doubles retirement news. In a recent tweet, her sentiments were shared with her fans. “When Serena retired I retired from doubles as well. When you have Serena Williams as a partner you have seen the glory at the mountaintop, you can’t go any higher! Sorry I don’t have better news.” she said.

However, seeing that news, fans flooded the comment section with their messages regarding how the 42-year-old tennis player set the record straight about her doubles participation. 

A fan wrote, “Venus was ALWAYS more loyal to little sister than the other way around. This arguably is the difference between their career successes. Selfless champion.”
