For almost the first decade of the century in the women’s circuit, at least one of the American tennis legends contested at the Wimbledon Championship final, each year — the only exception was ‘06, when they both picked up some lengthy injuries. It was an exceptional rivalry between the Williams sisters that was cherished by the entire tennis realm.

However, their intense rivalry never came in the way of their sisterly bond, as witnessed by some of the heartfelt moments between them. It was also evident after the 43-year-old tennis icon captured her sister, Serena’s triumphant moment, following their exhilarating grass-court major encounter in 2003. In the process, she also brought to light her awe-inspiring ability to deal with defeats against her younger sister.

Venus and Serena Williams’ sisterly bond got perfectly captured in a ‘photo’

The Williams Sister era has undoubtedly been etched in the chronicles of the illustrious sport. Throughout this competitive period, Venus and Serena Williams have always expressed their mutual admiration and respect for each other. Despite getting outclassed by her sister, the 7 singles Grand Slam champion was all praises for Serena’s Wimbledon triumphant in 2003.

The remarkable moment in tennis history was also captured in a photograph that was recently brought to light on Twitter. While reminiscing about the heartfelt moment between the Williams sister, the tennis fan page stated, “Venus Williams takes a picture of her sister Serena Williams after their 2003 Wimbledon Final. Serena defended her title, beating Venus for the 2nd consecutive year.”

The Williams sisters’ tribute post also emphasized their dominance in the women’s circuit by stating, “It was the 4th consecutive year a Williams left as the Women’s Singles Champion.”

The heartfelt photo has already portrayed the strong bond between the American tennis icons. Even the elder sister once emphasized their relationship and rivalry on the court while calling it ‘different’ from others.

Venus previously refuted the misconceptions about her rivalry with sister

In a previous interview with CNN, the 43-year-old player revealed how the tennis community ‘wrongly’ perceive her rivalry with her younger sister. Even though they have locked horns on a whopping 31 occasions on the court, the sisterly bond between the two players remains intact and unaffected by their fierce rivalry.

While comparing the Williams sisters’ rivalry with the others in the women’s circuit, Venus said that she never resented her opponent and sister, Serena.  She added, “So Serena is my flesh and blood, why would I do that to her?”
