Victoria Azarenka Squanders Final Set Break Against Sorana Cirstea, Tumbles Out of Wimbledon Championships 2021

Tennis fans witnessed a huge upset today as 2-time Grand Slam champion, Victoria Azarenka, lost in the second round of the Wimbledon Championships 2021. Facing Sorana Cirstea, she lost the first set but managed to win the second one. However, Cirstea gave her absolutely no chance in the third set and won it quite comfortably. The final scoreline of the match was 7(7)-6(5), 3-6, 6-3.
Victoria Azarenka loses the first set in a close tie-breaker but makes a comeback the second set
Victoria Azarenka began the first beautifully after breaking in the very first game. However, Sorana Cirstea broke back to level the scoreline at 1-1. The match went on and the one who served continued to win the every single game until the scoreline reached 6-6.

This enforced the tie-breaker where Azarenka had no clues about the beautiful serves of Cirstea. As a result, she lost 5-7 in the tie-breaker.

However, Azarenka struck back in the second set and took an early 3-0 lead. Even though Cirstea tried to fight, she was clearly dominated by the Belarusian player. Thus, the World No.14 Azarenka won the set 6-3.

Set-3: Game, Set, Match for Sorana Cirstea
Although it was Azarenka who broke in the very first set and took a 2-0 lead in the third set, Cirstea played really well under pressure. She broke in the sixth game to equalize the scoreline.

Soon after, she broke back in the eighth game and was now leading 5-3. Even though Azarenka saved two match-points in the ninth game, it was not enough for her.

Cirstea broke for the third time in the following game, won the set 6-3, and therefore, conquered the match. She’ll now advance to the third round of the Wimbledon Championships 2021.
