Players who make it big in their sport often end up creating a legacy. Their children also tend to pursue a field in sports, following in the footsteps of their parents. We are seeing such an act in action already. Victoria Azarenka, the former number 1 and 2012 Australian Open champion, has started a legacy in her family as her son has taken up hockey.

Her son seems to be exhibiting immense sporting talent. Azarenka’s son recently showed the skills he possessed when it came to soccer as well. His unique abilities even had the former number 1 cheering for her son with immutable vigor.

Although she probably would have preferred that her son take up tennis, Azarenka is not a strict parent. A favorite at the Montreal Open, the Russian player is set to play her opening bout in a matter of hours. But at the moment, the limelight is on another Azarenka. Leo, her son, is the center of focus in Canada. In the stadium, Leo showed off his hockey skills.

Fans and his mother, the former Australian Open champion, cheered him on as he played alongside NHL stars Jonathan Huberdeau, Mathieu Joseph and David Perron. The Canadian Open’ X’ page even lauded the seven-year-old for his show of skills. Even his mother lauded his efforts as she commented, “Here we go 🏒” on the appreciation post. 

While he made his mother extremely proud with his skills, this is not the only time Leo has riled her up to the point of screaming in support for him.

Azarenka’s son has his mother screaming like crazy

The Belarusian player is a big fan of soccer herself. Unlike many of the new followers, she has been supporting PSG since the days of David Beckham. Her fan behavior for the Parisian team has not wavered since then. The trend has continued in her family, as her son also supports the former team of Lionel Messi. In fact, Azarenka said that Leo wants to be a soccer player and play for the team in Ligue 1.

She also stated that she screams in support whenever he plays the sport and acts like a crazy ‘soccer mom’. Now, time will only tell which sport Leo will end up picking.
