Over the years, Aryna Sabalenka has steadily climbed the WTA rankings. A former World No. 2, the Belarusian has outplayed the biggest names on the tour. However, apart from her tennis skills, the 24-year-old is also known for her gentle nature.

Following Wimbledon’s ban on Russian and Belarusian players, the 2021 semifinalist failed to participate in this year’s Championships. However, that didn’t stop her from trying her hands on the grass courts. Playing in Berlin, she suffered a first-round loss to Veronika Kudermetova. However, despite the loss, the Belarusian player has been making headlines for her commendable gesture towards a ball boy.

Aryna Sabalenka helps a struggling ball boy

Coming fresh as a finalist from WTA 250 Libema open, Sabalenka kicked off her Berlin campaign against the former world no.22. Suffering a first-set loss, she made a comeback to level the sets at 1-1. However, being the more dominant player, it was Kudermetova who took the third set to outplay Sabalenka.

While Sabalenka lost the match, she made sure to give her fans several memorable moments. While most of the moments were during the points, one moment was surrounded around a struggling ball boy. During the intense match, a ball boy suddenly started struggling, prompting the officials to check on him.

While the officials were taking care of him, not far away was Sabalenka. Concerned about the youngster, Sabalenka took no time to offer help. Hoping for the betterment of the ball boy, she brought a banana to offer the kid. Capturing the moment, Tennis Channel took to their Instagram handle, posting it. They captioned the post ‘Good Looking Out, Aryna Sabalenka’.

As visible in the video, the 24-year-old received massive praise from the crowd in the stadium. Furthermore, the post also had comments showering praise on Sabalenka.

While she was praised for her sportsmanship, what cannot go unnoticed is her first-round loss. Ever since the loss, Sabalenka is yet to take part in a tournament. Speculating her future path through the year, she is expected to be back on the court in the North American segment of the tour. The build-up to the US Open is set to kick off at Mubadala Silicon Valley Classic on 1st August.
