Chris Evert receives Stuart Scott ENSPIRE Award

The 18-time Grand Slam champion has always raised her voice for equality. Evert runs the Evert Academy for providing equal opportunity for education and tennis. The Academy also provides individual player educational support through its flagship program, the National Junior Tennis and Learning network.

Speaking about her academy, Evert said, “There are 300 programs across the country and more than 160000 kids have been involved in these programs. I enjoy being a mentor. I want to talk to the kids about pressure and about winning and about humility and about how lucky they are to find a sport that they love.

For her immense humanitarian contribution to sports, ESPN has honored her with the Stuart Scott ENSPIRE Award.

Chris Evert is a legend of the game. She has won 18 Grand Slam titles in her illustrious career. It includes seven French Open, three Wimbledon, six US Open, and two Australian Open titles. Also, the 67-year-old was on the top of the WTA rankings for 260 weeks.

Evert was a consistent performer for a long time, however, her best performance came in the era 1970-1980. Additionally, Evert has a unique record to her name. She has won a Grand Slam title every 13 consecutive years. She also has a brilliant 89.97% winning record in singles. Even though she has retired now, she still is among the top tennis personalities in the world.
