Five of those have come at The Championships, Wimbledon,  one of the most prestigious tournaments in tennis.

Adding a golden lining to her career, the 41-year-old has gone on to win four Olympic gold medals. Apart from her on-court success, Venus has also become a prominent figure in the business world. Recently, Venus made her maiden appearance at the Met Gala 2022. An interesting incident occurred during her interview at the event.

NYC Culture Commissioner accepts the proposal during Venus Williams’ interview

The seven-time Grand Slam champion was in an interview when an interesting moment took place in the background. The Cultural Commissioner of NYC, Laurie Cumbo, accepted the proposal from her fiancé, who got on his knees and presented the ring. Subsequently, Cumbo kissed and hugged him as the crowd cheered for the couple. She was left teary-eyed and surprised at the same time by the heart-warming gesture from her fiancé.

Talking about the preparations for the Met Gala, Venus said, “I am wearing Chloé tonight.” Further, the interviewer asked about her changing hairstyles at different events and whether she styles by herself. The elder Williams sister replied, “Sometimes yes and sometimes no. I am definitely not a hair expert but I am glad that I am not responsible for doing it.”

Comparing her preparations for the Met Gala to that of a tennis match, she said, “I’ve had less breakfast when you’re at the Met because you’re trying like keep everything squeezed (laughs). But I am eating past 8 AM while playing a match like a whole of the life.”

On the tennis front, Venus last played at the WTA Chicago Women’s Open in August last year. However, she has been away from action since then due to a leg injury. The American tennis legend is hoping to make a comeback later this season.
