Iga Swiatek was born on May 31, 2001, in Warsaw, Poland, to Dorota and Tomasz Swiatek. Her father was a rower who competed in the men's quadruple sculls event at the 1988 Olympics held in Seoul. Her mother works as an orthodontist. She has a sister, Agata, who is three years older than her and works as a dentist.

Swiatek's father wanted his daughters to be competitive athletes. While Sierzputowski was her coach, Nick Brown, a British former professional tennis player, and former Polish Davis Cup coach, served as a primary adviser on occasion. In November 2023, her racket used during the French Open final to beat Karolina Muchova was auctioned for charity.
