As Ons Jabeur was serving to stay in the match, Iga really didn’t give her a chance. She broke her serve in the second set by 6-2 to win the match in straight sets. As soon as Jabeur’s shot hit the net, she broke down in tears. She was on her knees and crying in the middle of the court. Later, she met with her team members and gave them a big hug.

Clearly, it meant a lot for her to win this tournament. Previously, she didn’t play at the Madrid Open due to an injury. So, there were a lot of questions coming into this tournament. Now, probably she gave answers to every question by lifting the title for the second time in her career. After the match, she joked, “Today I’m going to celebrate with a lot of tiramisu, no regrets.”

Meanwhile, expectations were high from Jabeur after she lifted the Madrid Open. Also, many fans and players thought the Tunisian player could cause a massive upset. However, it didn’t happen as the Iga completely overwhelmed her and won the match in 1 hour and 22 minutes; the final result was 6-2,6-2. Nevertheless, she had a pretty good tournament. Particularly, the Rome crowd will remember her quarter-final and semi-final matches, where she was on the brink of losing and played some incredible tennis to win those matches.

Meanwhile, after winning five back-to-back tournaments, Iga will look for her sixth at the French Open. In 2020, she won the French Open. So, this is not an unknown territory for her. What’s more incredible was that she won the French Open that year without dropping a set. At the Italian Open, she dropped only 17 games in the tournament to reach the final, which was a remarkable statistic.

Unquestionably, she is the best player in the world right now. It will be tough for anyone to stop her from winning the French Open this year.
