Serena Williams marked the end of her over 25-year-long illustrious career this season. After struggling with a leg injury and keeping out of the circuit for a year, the 23-time Grand Slam champion decided it was time to let go of the sport.

The last Grand Slam of this year witnessed the end of an era, as Serena walked out of professional tennis. However, although she wouldn’t be around on the tour anymore, fans will still have her memories to linger on. Speaking of which, here’s a clip portraying the power of her serves.

Serena Williams destroys a drone with her powerful serve

While training under the French tennis coach Patrick Mouratoglou, Williams’ serve destroyed a drone which was flying around to catch the player’s action. Her serve brought the drone crashing down to the ground with both the star and her coach laughing in the background.

The former World no.1 worked with Mouratoglou from 2012 to early 2022. In the decade long partnerships, they claimed 10 Grand Slam titles. The coach walked out of the team earlier this year to join the coaching staff of the Romanian tennis ace, Simona Halep.

Subsequently, Williams made her comeback under the guidance of her elder sister Venus Williams’ coach, Eric Hechtman. After testing herself in doubles of Eastbourne, she made her singles return at the Wimbledon Championships 2022. However, the seven-time champion failed to even get past her opening round opponent.

Williams’ retirement tour

The six times US Open champion decided to perform her last dance in the hard courts of her home Grand Slam tournament. She, alongside the Australian coach Rennae Stubbs, entered the US Open. At first Williams took down the former World No. 46 Danka Kovinić in straight sets of 6-3 6-3.

Thereafter, she locked horns with the second seed and former World No.2 Anett Kontaveit. The 41-year-old in a thrilling three-set-long match outclassed the Estonian star.

However, in her next clash, she failed to outclass Ajla Tomljanović. Williams said goodbye to the sport after a 5-7 7-6(4) 6-1 defeat.
