Barty’s 2022 season

Coming on the back of a successful 2021 season, Barty was destined to dominate on the women’s circuit this year. She began her season at the Adelaide International 1 tournament, a warm-up event in the lead-up to the Australian Open. Barty dominated her opponents in that tournament, winning the title emphatically.

Further, in the Australian Open, she maintained her good run of form, winning the title without dropping a set. With her win Down Under, she completed her Major title triumphs on each of the different surfaces.  She had won Wimbledon in 2021 and triumphed at Roland Garros in 2019. Subsequently, following her win in Melbourne, she withdrew from the ‘Sunshine Double’ owing to health issues.
