Talking about their engagement, Barty said, “Garry and I have been together for a long time now and I had designed the ring with him. We are obviously excited now for the next chapter. We were at home on the couch with the puppies. It was very much just us. It was perfect for us. Everyone has their unique way of doing it. It was perfectly suited to us. That’s just me and who I am and who we are together.”

Barty’s 2022 season

Coming on the back of a successful 2021 season, Barty was destined to dominate on the women’s circuit this year. She began her season at the Adelaide International 1 tournament, a warm-up event in the lead-up to the Australian Open. Barty dominated her opponents in that tournament, winning the title emphatically.

Further, in the Australian Open, she maintained her good run of form, winning the title without dropping a set. With her win Down Under, she completed her Major title triumphs on each of the different surfaces.  She had won Wimbledon in 2021 and triumphed at Roland Garros in 2019. Subsequently, following her win in Melbourne, she withdrew from the ‘Sunshine Double’ owing to health issues.
