American tennis star Venus Williams made a shocking return to the court. The seven-time major champion took to the court at the University of Washington. As her younger sister Serena Williams retired from tennis recently, there were speculations about her retirement as well.

However, the 42-year-old doesn’t look like stopping anytime soon. Earlier, the 42-year-old participated in both singles and women’s doubles of the US Open. However, she couldn’t go past the first round in both.

Venus Williams is back to practice
The former world number 1 is not having a great year so far. She has lost all the matches she featured in this year. Also, looking at her age, it looked highly unlikely that she can continue for long. Putting all that behind, Williams took to the court at the University of Washington. On Tuesday afternoon she volleyed with Husky assistant coach Mitch Stewart.

Venus is a seven-time Grand Slam champion with five Wimbledon and two US Open titles. However, her last Major title came way back in 2008 Wimbledon.

It’s not hard to guess the greatest women’s tennis player of the past two decades. Serena Williams has left everyone far behind in terms of greatness in her era. Ever since Serena debuted, the excitement of an all-Williams game used to be at its peak. The two faced off for the first time at the 1998 Australian Open. Venus claimed the victory in straight sets. After losing the next two matches, Serena registered her first victory against Serena at the 1999 Grand Slam Cup.

In the early 2000s, it used to be hard to predict a winner between these two. However, with time, Serena took the upper hand and started winning more frequently against her sister. In the 30 matches they played against each other, Serena won 18 while Venus won 12. Now that Serena has hung her racket, the fans will definitely miss the rivalry.
