Emma Raducanu, the British tennis ace, is going through some rough patches currently. She has suffered a variety of injuries since her US Open triumph last year. However, Raducanu is adamant about continuing her game with the movement her body allows.

Apart from the tension of playing with an injury-ridden body, the Brit is also facing challenges in appointing a permanent coach. She has changed several coaches in her four-year career and currently is traveling without one by her side. Recently, she gave the reason for keeping the position vacant.

Emma Raducanu speaks about functioning without a coach

Raducanu often finds herself under the microscope because of her frequent coaching changes. However, now that she is playing without a coach, people’s concerns have diverted towards that matter. Therefore, in order to clear the clouds, Raducanu said, “I want to take my time with this decision. Nothing has changed. I still have the same people, good people, around me. I don’t want to rush into anything.”

“I’m still 19 and I’ve already won a Slam. So I can take my time and put things in place because I know my motivation isn’t any less,” she added.

Earlier the Briton collaborated with Andrew Richardson and claimed her first Grand Slam title. Though she parted ways with him just after the event.

Thereafter, she temporarily hired LTA coach Jeremy Bates and then tried to match her rhythm with former World No.1 Angelique Kerber’s coach, Torben Beltz. However, in less than five months, she broke her ties with him as well.

Raducanu’s recent injury

Raducanu in this year only has suffered multiple injuries. She incurred a wrist injury at the Australian Open and a hip injury in the Guadalajara Open. Following that, a stiff back troubled her in the Indian Wells and a back injury took her down at the Italian Open.

Recently, with a will to oil her skills for the upcoming Grand Slam, she stepped on the grass courts of the Nottingham Open. But things didn’t go quite as Raducanu planned as she was forced to walk out from the opening match of the WTA 250 event after facing another injury issue. Further, because of this injury, the 19-year-old might have to sit out of the Wimbledon championship.
