Several comedians have performed at the Hollywood Bowl, but what happened this year was unimaginable. A person from the audience attacked comedian Dave Chappelle while performing his bit on the stage. Though no one was injured, the vibe of the event got crushed owing to the same. Later, the Academy Awards, being the platform to witness the entire incident, banned the actor for a total of ten years. Though many argue that the ban is superficial as he can still be nominated. The Academy awards are yet to give an official response to the backlash related to their decision.
In a statement, Richard Williams also condemned Smith’s behavior and from the latest attack on Chappelle, it appears as if the legendary actor did more harm to the standup comedy profession even if he didn’t intend to do the same.
