Eugenie Bouchard of Canada shot to fame when she reached the final of the Japan Open in 2013. The Canadian is also the first player born in Canada and representing Canada, to reach the singles final of a Grand Slam. Bouchard was defeated by Petra Kvitova in the 2014 Wimbledon Championships.

This year, the 27-year-old has been sidelined since March after surgery on her right shoulder. Recently, Bouchard gave an update on said injury through social media.

Eugenie Bouchard gives rehab update

Eugenie Bouchard of Canada provided an update regarding her injury via Instagram. She could be seen working out in the gym with utmost focus and determination. In March, Bouchard injured her right shoulder and withdrew from the remaining tournaments. In a recent conversation with TennisChannel, she talked about her recovery and seemed hopeful about making a comeback soon.

She said, “Yes thank you for asking, it’s going well. So its been two and a half months now since I had the surgery and so I am still in the process of doing rehab every single day. I have to get my shoulder worked on, I have to do exercises with bands, exercises that are kind of like range of motion type. So I am not on the court yet, I think I need about another month or so before I can get on the court and start that progression of training.”

Bouchard’s 2021 season

Eugenie Bouchard started her 2021 season at the Australian Open. Unfortunately, the Canadian lost against Yue Yuan in the second round of qualifiers in straight sets. She then played at Lyon Open, where Aliaksandra Sasnovich defeated her in the round of 32.

Her best performance of the 2021 season came at Abierto De Guadalajara in Mexico. She cruised into the finals of the competition, dropping just one set on her way. However, Sara Sorribes Tormo outclassed her in the final in straight sets 6-2, 7-5. In Monterrey open, she faced an early exit in the round of 32. 

Since March 2021, Eugenie Bouchard hasn’t played any professional tennis. However, her recovery seems to be headed in the right direction and she is hopeful of a return to the WTA tour soon.
