On and off the court, Serena Williams is known for being a passionate person and competitor. The 23-time Grand Slam champion recently took to Twitter to share some unfortunate news about her friend, Dr. Esther Lee. As she talked about the difficult topic, the American legend’s emotions got the better of her as she broke down into tears.

Serena Williams breaks down into tears as her physiotherapist Esther Lee has pancreatic cancer

Serena appeared distressed by the news that her physiotherapist and friend, Dr. Esther Lee, is suffering from pancreatic cancer. Williams will be participating in the LA Cancer Challenge 5K as a part of Team Esther to raise awareness about pancreatic cancer.

My dear friend Esther has been a huge part of my own health journey, and now she needs our help as she battles pancreatic cancer. Esther has been named the honorary starter for the LA Cancer Challenge 5K walk-run on October 31st in UCLA, benefitting the Hirshberg Foundation,” said Serena as she struggled to control her tears.

“My friend Esther is in treatment for pancreatic cancer. I’ve joined Team Esther for the LA Cancer Challenge 5K on on October 31st to raise awareness and do my part to help find a cure. Register and make a donation today!” wrote Williams on Twitter.

In the video, Serena urged all her fans to join Team Esther and raise awareness about the issue. She also provided a link in her tweet where one can donate to help find a cure for the disease. She also urged people to join her, virtually or in person for the same.

Both Venus and Serena share a special bond with Esther Lee

Esther has served as the physiotherapist of both Venus and Serena Williams for quite a long time now. In an earlier interview, Serena even admitted that she could have died if she hadn’t gone to the hospital after taking Esther’s advice in 2001.

“I didn’t want to go and she told me you got to go, and that was the beginning of stuff that was really bad but ended up being good for me. I’ve thanked her so many times for that because it literally could have been life changing,” said Serena in that interview.

Almost every single person is praying for the healthy life of Esther Lee. Fans hope that she fights back, defeats the cancer, and comes out as a winner.
