WATCH: Serena Williams Catches Up on Popcorn-Worthy Matches at US Open 2021 Following Her Withdrawal

The US Open 2021 got off to a great start as fans witnessed some intriguing matches on the very first day. Sloane Stephens won an all American battle against Madison Keys and the fans cheered her as if Venus or Serena Williams were playing. On the men’s domain, Stefanos Tsitsipas survived a tough battle against Andy Murray and defeated him in five sets.

Even though 23-time Grand Slam winner Serena Williams is not playing at the US Open 2021, she just can’t control herself from watching the matches. She posted a video in which fans can see her watching the Grand Slam from her home.

In the video, one can see her in her Nike outfit and eating popcorn. Although she couldn’t compete herself at the US Open this year due to a hamstring injury, she seems pretty interested to watch the major.

Serena Williams in the 2021 tennis season

Williams began the 2021 season on a high note as she reached the semis of the Australian Open 2021. Even though World No.3 Naomi Osaka crushed her in straight sets, she played some phenomenal tennis down-under.

The clay-court season didn’t turn out to be great for Serena as she failed to impress at the Italian Open and the Parma Open 2021. Even though she gave some pretty good performances at the French Open 2021, Elina Rybakina thrashed her in straight sets in the pre-quarters of the tournament.

Serena looked quite confident at the Wimbledon Championships 2021. However, she injured her leg and had to withdraw from the Grand Slam without completing a single set. Since then, she hasn’t played a professional tennis match.
