Former world no.1 Victoria Azarenka sailed through to the fourth round of the 2022 Australian Open with a straight sets victory over Elina Svitolina. Azarenka toppled Svitolina in every department to reach the pre-quarters, where she will face the in-form Barbora Krejcikova.

Post her victory against the Ukrainian, Azarenka attended the press conference along with her son, Leo. The mother-son duo sported cool shades as the Belarusian answered most of the questions. When one of the journalists asked Leo regarding her mother’s performance, a proud Leo said, “Awesome”.

Even though it’s still early to predict but Victoria Azarenka can become one prime contender to go the distance at the ‘happy slam’ this year. She was not troubled by any of her previous opponents. But, the match-up against Krejcikova on Sunday will be a tough battle for the Belarusian.

Azarenka faced Krejcikova at the 2020 Ostrava Open and ended up victorious in a three-set battle. It was an engaging contest that witnessed Azarenka dominating the Czech player. However, Krejcikova has been in an exceptional form ever since winning her first major crown at Roland Garros and is continuing the same form this year as well.
