Just like a lot of common people in the United States, Serena Williams also follows the religious and sacred tenets of Christianity. The American tennis legend put herself in the category of Jehovah’s Witnesses while following conservative Christian values. She opened up about her religious beliefs in her 2009 book, “Queen of the Court,” in which she also talked about her tennis journey.

Serena Williams previously opened up about her religious beliefs in a book

The American tennis legend revealed how she is a proud Jehovah’s Witness. While following the sacred path, her beliefs are in line with conservative Christian values. On the religious path, there are some key differences with mainstream Christianity as she talked about them in her autobiography.

Williams stated, “We don’t celebrate holidays like Christmas and Easter, for example, and we don’t accept blood transfusions–a belief that led in an indirect way to the development of bloodless surgery, a noninvasive alternative to traditional surgery that has recently gained favor in secular communities.”

She also said that the people in the same community are big into relief work, which is a sacred objective to Jehovah’s Witnesses. While talking about such endeavors, Williams said that they are into a lot of missionary or volunteer work when it comes to a flood or a hurricane, or some other natural disaster.

She added, “Here it feels like that’s an obligation that should be on all of us, no matter where or how we pray. But like I said, we’re Christians and I was an eager participant as a kid. I still am. I go to the Kingdom Hall all the time, wherever I happen to be.”

As a religious person, the WTA star read the Bible all the time, wherever she happened to be. Her aim was to gain from the powerful words of encouragement and moral lessons present within it.

Talking about it, Williams stated, “And, each time out, I’m lifted and transported and set down in a peaceful, spiritual place. I’m constantly looking to build on my spirituality, to make myself a better person, to find all these different points of connection with our God, Jehovah.”

In the book, Serena also talked about her sister, Venus, and the popularity she gained at a very age on the tennis court. Seeing her getting all the limelight, she became a bit envious when she was just a kid.
