Anett Kontaveit had a strong finish to the 2021 season. She won four titles in the latter half of the previous year. Moreover, it enabled her to finish the season in the top-10 of the WTA rankings. Major credit for her uprise goes to her former coach, Dimitry Tursunov. The two started working together before the Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati last year. Further, it was a disappointing end to their partnership. In the recently concluded French Open 2022, Kontaveit went down in the opening round against Ajla Tomljanovic in straight sets. Nonetheless, she had a decent start to this season, reaching the finals of the Qatar Open and winning the St. Petersburg Ladies Trophy. Moreover, her consistent run across the tournaments has enabled her to rise to the second spot on the WTA rankings chart.
