Serena Williams, after having enjoyed a 27-year-long illustrious career, said goodbye to tennis this season. She hung her racket in her home Grand Slam tournament surrounded by family, friends and, of course, her adoring fans. Further, now that she isn’t tied to the hectic schedule of tennis, she has time for a lot of things. Things that she sacrificed earlier, such as enjoying being a parent to its fullest.

Williams has stepped into the second phase of her life. Currently, she is focusing on her family and her businesses. Speaking of which, the  23-time Grand Slam champion recently arranged a play date for her daughter with a fellow celebrity mother.

Ciara about arranging a play date for future best friends

Ciara and Serena Williams have been friends for years and they are setting up their adorable daughters to follow in their footsteps. They once arranged a pool play date for their daughters Sienna and Olympia in 2019, about which the singer disclosed. “Little CC, mama and Olympia, our babies. We were at Cannes at the same time. I mean, what are the chances that we get to link up with our baby girls and Cannes friends?” 

Thereafter the Level Up singer added, “It’s funny because we both spent a lot when we were pregnant carrying our girls, but we never got to get them together. And so when we were at Cannes, it was our first time getting our girls together, so was really special.”

Coming to the former world no.1 and singer’s friendship, they have been through thick and thin together. In fact, Ciara was in the stadium when Williams was playing her last tournament at Flushing Meadows. She and her husband, Russell Wilson, were present at the historic third round match of the US Open.

The 41-year-old after incurring a second round and an opening round defeat in the Canadian Open and Cincinnati Masters, geared up for the US Open. She stepped on the hard courts of the Arthur Ashe stadium in a diamond studded black outfit and locked horns with Danka Kovinić.

The Montenegrin professional’s prowess was no match for Williams as the latter advanced to the next round with a straight sets victory of 6-3 6-3. In the second round, the six-time US Open champion squared off with then WTA no.2, Anett Kontaveit.

She got the better of the second seed and booked a match with the Aussie Ajla Tomljanović. And after a dragging the match till the third set, she said goodbye to the sport.
