‘We Will Fight for Her Rights’- Tennis Fraternity Stands With Simona Halep After She Fails Doping Test

Simona Halep had announced her break from the 2002 season before her testing results came out. It was after her nasal surgery and she stated that she would make a comeback in 2023. However, the player tested positive for a banned substance and has been provisionally suspended from playing. Nevertheless, her coach Patrick Mouratoglou and other players have come out in her support to show solidarity with the player.

They believe in Halep’s words that she has never cheated. They have shown her support and have asked her to stay strong while the truth comes out.

Tennis players show solidarity with Simona Halep

The tennis fraternity has come together to show support for the player. Currently, Romanian no. 3, Sorana Cirstea, has vouched for her truth. She believes that Halep has reached the heights of her career on her own and not because of cheating while taking some banned substance.

She stated, “I really hope she will fight it out and shed the much-needed light for her and for our beloved sport.” They represented Romania in 2014, 2017, and 2018 in Billie Jean King Cup.

Apart from her, Jaqueline Cristian also supported Halep. She considers Halep as her idol and supports her through this rough time. Currently, Cristian is a Romanian world no. 5. She stated, “I took her as an inspiration because I know how hard it is to make it to the top, especially when you come from a small country like Romania.”

Moreover, Mihaela Buzarnescu, a Romanian tennis player, too sent out a message of strength and support. She conveyed a message of being strong and stated, “We all know what a fighter you are.”

Additionally, Alize Cornet, a French tennis player also sent a message of support by posting on her Instagram post. She stated, “With you all the way Simona.”

Russia’s Elena Vesnina too stated, “Simona stay strong. You will win this battle.”

Apart from her, Ukraine’s Daya Yastremska also showed solidarity with the Romanian player.

Halep has been provisionally banned from playing

Simona Halep has established herself as one of the top players in women’s tennis. The Romanian player had decided to take a break after she had undergone nasal surgery after the US Open. Moreover, she also lost her first-round match at the US Open against Dania Snigur.

So, this news of testing positive for a banned substance has come out as a huge shock for the tennis fraternity. Moreover, there are millions who are to support the player and believe that she has not done such a thing.

Novak Djokovic’s led tennis organization, PTPA (Professional Tennis Players Association) also stated, “We will fight for her rights and look to advocate for fairness and transparency for all players.”
