During an interview with Scroll.in, Sania Mirza shared how she feels about the nine-time Wimbledon singles winner as she recently had the opportunity to meet her. Unsurprisingly, she was all praises for Martina, just like anyone else.

Sania shared, “I’ve had the opportunity to interact with her for many years now. I remember, winning in Singapore, twice [WTA Finals in 2014 and 2015], the trophy that is given is presented by her because it is named after her. She’s so real, that’s what makes her who she really is. She really tells you what she feels, whether it’s in person or in commentary.”

Further, she also shared how she felt after playing her last match. Sania told everyone that after her last match, she locked herself in a room and cried a lot. She was overwhelmed but did not know if it was sadness or joy after her last match that she felt. Well, we think it was truly a mix of both. Being free from the pressure of proving herself on the court and getting to start a new chapter in her life with her family was surely a tremendous and memorable moment for Sania.
