‘Well Deserved’: Carla Suarez Navarro Reacts After Max Parrot Wins Gold at the Winter Olympics in Beijing

Former world no.6, Carla Suarez Navarro is an inspiration for anybody in life, not just in tennis. Last year, she said goodbye to tennis at the US Open 2021. After battling with Hodgkin’s lymphoma in 2020, she announced in April 2021 that she overcame the disease and was finally cancer-free. Later in June, Navarro made an inspiring return at the French Open for one last ride.
Meanwhile, Canadian snowboarder Max Parrot claimed a gold medal at the Beijing Winter Olympics. Incidentally, the Canadian also suffered from Hodgkin’s lymphoma in 2018. The inspirational story of Max certainly inspired Navarro, as she expressed herself on social media.

Max Parrot’s success inspires Carla Suarez Navarro
In the recent Winter Olympics in Beijing, Max Parrot won a gold medal in men’s snowboard slopestyle. In 2018, he was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma and battled through it. Later, in 2019, he announced that he was free from cancer.
His triumph at the Winter Olympics impressed Carla Suarez Navarro, as she also battled the same disease in the past. She wrote on social media, “Totally Inspiring… Well deserved… Congrats Max Parrot.”

Navarro’s inspiring battle
In Beijing, Max Parrot’s accomplishment impressed Navarro, but she herself is a big inspiration for many sports stars. After battling cancer, and recovering from it, Navarro wrote an inspiring message on social media.
“One more step on this path. Today I finish the treatment and I can say that I have overcome Hodgkin’s lymphoma. To all of you, thank you. Every message of encouragement has given me a lot of strength. Infinite gratitude to all the sanitary who take care of us day by day. I’M CURED!” Navarro wrote [translated script].

Last year in June, she played her final French Open match against former US Open champion Sloane Stephens. Although she lost the match, her battle was truly inspiring to watch.

Later, at the US Open, Navarro played her last singles match against another American Danielle Collins in the first round. In December, the Spaniard announced her retirement news on social media, as she wrote, “THANKS FOR ALL THESE YEARS! A beautiful chapter of my life ends. A new stage begins on my path.”
