‘We’ve Worked on as a Family’ – Venus Williams Thanks Sister Serena Williams and Academy Awards for Honoring ‘King Richard’

The role of Serena and Venus Williams’ father, Richard Williams, in the success of his daughters has been pivotal. The Williams sisters are one of the most successful siblings tennis has seen. The younger Williams sister has won an astonishing 23 Grand Slam titles, just one major away from Margaret Court’s record of 24. On the other hand, Venus Williams has 7 major singles titles to her credit.
Not only have Serena and Venus won laurels in singles, but also have combined as a pair to win numerous doubles titles. They have won 14 Grand Slam doubles titles together. Additionally, they have also won 3 Olympic gold medals in doubles, and one each in singles.

A biographical drama film named “King Richard” was released in November 2021, based on the life of Richard Williams. The film was well-received by the audiences and gained positive reviews from the critics. Moreover, yesterday, the film was nominated in various categories at the 94th Academy Awards.

The elder Williams sister took to Instagram to share the news with her fans. She said, “So I don’t know if you guys have heard the great news, but our film ‘King Richard’ has been nominated for 6 Academy Awards, including ‘Best Picture’. So, thank you Academy Awards for including us and honoring my dad and this film and this piece of work we’ve worked on as a family.”

Further, she thanked her sister and nephew and said that she’ll be celebrating all day. The movie stars Will Smith is playing the role of Richard Williams and was nominated for the Best Actor in a Leading Role. Additionally, Aunjanue Ellis, who portrayed the role of Oracene Price, was nominated for the Best Actress in a Supporting Role.
