Serena Williams, the American tennis legend, recently hinted that she might retire after her final tournament, the US Open. But little did Serena expect that she would be joined by another tennis great, Roger Federer, the very next month.

The 20-time Grand Slam title winner, Federer recently announced that he will be retiring from professional tennis after the Laver Cup. Many prominent figures and athletes responded to the post, including Serena Williams.
Serena Williams reacts to Roger Federer’s post
Roger Federer posted an emotional message on social media, as he thanked his fans and family who constantly supported him through the years. He stated, “To my tennis family and beyond…”

Many popular figures and athletes reacted to the post as they wished to the Swiss Maestro for a magnificent career in tennis. Meanwhile, Serena Williams, who also recently announced her retirement, commented on the post. She commented with heart emojis, “So beautifully said. What. A. Class. Act.”

Another prominent figure, Bear Grylls commented on the post “Always humble, kind, honest and grateful. Tennis will never quite be the same again. Yet you’ve set the stage for millions to dream and to follow. And now we have time for some more adventures!”

Many athletes from different sports commented on the post and paid tribute to Federer. The popular soccer player, Kasper Schmeichel, also commented, “I grew up watching you and you are one of the biggest inspirations and the best to ever do it.” Another soccer player, Jerome Boateng, also commented, “Thanks for everything,” and added a ‘G.O.A.T’ emoji to his comment.
Serena’s retirement after the US Open
The 23-time Grand Slam winner, Serena, played her last match at the US Open in New York. She started the tournament brilliantly as she swiftly passed through the first two rounds. Despite her solid start, the American tennis legend was knocked out in the third round of the event. She received a standing ovation from the audience as she delivered an emotional post-match speech.

Serena was overcome with emotion as she thanked her fans and her family for their constant support throughout her career. Many celebrities paid tribute to the American tennis legend who has left her mark on the sport.
