The debate of the Greatest of all time is one that will never die. Although the discussion has popped up strongly in the last decade, it has now become ubiquitous in every sport. In tennis, the debate is as lively as in any other sport. For women’s tennis, the discussion of the GOAT is not as aggressive as other areas, as many consider Serena Williams to be the GOAT. However, the topic has heated up in the WTA as well.

As fans of the sport started looking at the statistics besides the Grand Slam titles, they hounded Patrick Mouratoglou for calling Williams the undeniable GOAT when another WTA star has better feats in other areas of tennis.

Patrick Mouratoglou replied to a post on ‘X’ which said that Margaret Court is a bigger champion than Serena Williams because she has more slams. But the French coach said that most of her titles came before the Open Era, reducing their impact. He further stated that Williams was the undeniable GOAT. Consequently, tennis fans hounded his comment and reminded him about Steffi Graf and her achievements in the sport.

One fan brought up the name of Graf and asked him if he didn’t consider her in the discussion.

One fan of the former German star said that Graf had achieved her slam titles before she turned 30, while Williams had to play till her 40s to win the 23 slams.

A fan suggested that Graf’s statistics of playing for 10 years less than Williams, and playing 100+ more matches, with 50+ wins, and 30 more titles with only 1 less major made her a better choice for the GOAT than Williams.

One fan said they would pick Graf over Serena Williams any day.

Another fan favored Graf as they said she has only one less slam, but her career was much shorter than Williams’. They also brought up the argument of her winning the golden slam, i.e., four grand slams and the Olympic gold in the same year.
