What is the Budget of Venus and Serena Williams Father’s Biopic, King Richard?

HBO is coming up with a film based on the life of Venus and Serena Williams’ father, Richard Williams. The 79-year-old is primarily responsible for making and building two of the greatest tennis players of all time and has won almost everything as a tennis coach.

Interestingly, renowned Hollywood star, Will Smith, is playing the role of Richard Williams in the movie, ‘King Richard’. As a result, fans are quite exhilarated about the film, especially after watching its two magnificent trailers.

All you need to know about the budget of the biopic

Along with Will Smith, there are several other stars that are featuring in the movie King Richard. As a result, the producers have spent quite a lot of dollars in making the film.

Even though there is no official announcement regarding the budget, there are many reports that suggest a figure. The total budget of the movie is estimated at about $50 million. Interestingly, Will Smith, himself is one of the producers of the film along with Tim White and Trevor White.

Even Venus and Serena are contributing to the film and are executive producers. Zach Baylin has written the script of the movie and Reinaldo Marcus Green has directed it.

Principal photography of the film began in January 2020 in Los Angeles, United States. According to the California Film Commission, the production team spent around $35.6 million in the state, and returned $7.5 million in tax credits.

Intriguingly, Smith gave quite a hefty bonus to all his co-stars after the completion of the shooting. It looks that he is really happy with everyone’s work and is expecting something big from the film.

When is King Richard hitting the box office?

King Richard will be hitting the theatres on November 19, 2021. Thus, it is less than two weeks from now when fans will witness yet another Will Smith wonder on the big screens.

The premier of the movie was launched on September 2, 2021 and those who watched it gave a great response. While some rated it as the best sports movie ever, others failed to count the number of times it gave them goosebumps.
