Serena Williams and Alexis Ohanian have an interesting story together. The two first met in 2015 when they were staying in the same hotel in Rome. Subsequently, the 23-time Grand Slam champion invited Alexis to watch her play at the French Open. The Reddit co-founder surprised her as he flew to Paris to attend Serena’s matches. The two spent quality time together in the city.

Further, in December 2016, Alexis proposed to Serena where they had first met. A month later, they discovered that Serena was expecting their first child. Later in 2017, Serena gave birth to her daughter, Olympia, following which Serena and Alexis tied the knot. The former World Number 1 once revealed an interesting incident with her husband.

During an episode of the GMA: Strahan & Sara show, Serena opened up about a sassy reply she once received from her husband. Talking about the incident, she said, “I asked him, I was like hey do you want me to give you some pointers and he’s like ‘no’. And I was like ‘okay’. And I was like if you don’t ever ask me for a lesson, you know so that way so he said no when I asked him…I was just like well who do you think you are?”

Over the years, Serena and Alexis’ bond has grown stronger than ever. Recently, Alexis also attended Serena’s farewell tournament at the US Open. He was accompanied by his daughter, Olympia and the two together cheered for Serena during her stint at the tournament.

Alexis’ note to Serena after she announced her retirement

After Serena announced her retirement from tennis, her husband took to social media to pen down an emotional note. Alexis said, “I’ve seen over the last 7 years how much y’all love my wife—what she means to so many, worldwide.”

Further, he went on to add, “It’s unlike anything I’ve ever seen. Plenty of folks have told me ‘how Reddit changed their life,’ but the scale & impact of ‘how Serena changed my life’ stories absolutely dwarfs it.”
