‘Who Hurt You?’- Serena Williams’ Husband Alexis Ohanian Claps Back at Naysayer Who Accused Him of Staying ‘Woke’

Alexis Ohanian never shies away from expressing his true self. He is known not just for being the biggest cheerleader of Serena Williams or a successful business mogul, but also for his remarkable wit and ability to silence his critics. Yet again, he has depicted his skills as he clapped back at a naysayer who tried to criticize him for developing Reddit. In true style, Ohanian was in no mood to take offense and responded fiercely to his troller.

In a remarkable move, the Collector-focused social network Mantel released its mobile application on Wednesday. Talking about the same to Cllct, the CEO of the company Evan Parker opened up about the new chapter in building “Reddit meets Instagram for collectors.” As soon as the information about the same gained traction on X, a user tried to troll not just the latest application, but Reddit as well, with some snarky take against Ohanian. 

Taking to X, the user wrote, “Wanting to be “Reddit meets anything” is some bulls–t only a clown like @alexisohanian could think is a good idea.” Ohanian didn’t take long to clap back at the criticism in style. “The Best Trolls: armchair CEOs who’ve never built anything in their lives. Go be useful. Build something people want. It’s much more satisfying than just rage-typing,” Ohanian responded, highlighting that it takes a lot of effort to build something new but much less to criticize. However, the war of words did not subside here. 

The user continued his jibe against the Reddit co-founder and wrote, “ The Worst CEOs: Let their companies turn to s–t because they bent down on one knee to kiss the feet of the woke mob.” This time Serena Williams’ husband decided to end the debate with a witty yet vehement take, and wrote, “Who hurt you? Please invest in yourself, take the time to better yourself, and everything will get better from there.” For the unversed, Ohanian co-founded Reddit after he graduated from college in 2005 with Steve Huffman and Aaron Swartz. And in less than two years, the trio managed to increase the brand value of the social platform.

In 2006, Reddit was sold to Conde Nast for a whopping $10 Million, however, Ohanian continued to remain associated with the company till 2020. The 41-year-old eventually stepped down as a sign of protest to the killing of George Floyd. He revealed that at the time, certain groups on the platform spread hatred for the black community and when Ohanian asked to block these groups, his team did not agree to it, thereby compelling him to resign from his position. However, he has continued to engage in discussions related to the platform with his fans on social media and one such interesting moment came in 2023.

Alexis Ohanian is quite active on his social media platforms and shares interesting takes on various matters. Interestingly, he captured attention for a cheeky discussion that unfolded with one of the users on X, who reminded the Reddit co-founder of his previous roles. 

Upon facing some issues on Reddit, a user was quick to tag Ohanian on X and wrote, “fix this now @alexisohanian.” The 41-year-old was quick to respond back highlighting he is no longer associated with the company and wrote, “this is not my job anymore.” Surprisingly, the fan revealed that he was aware of the development and was just trying to get his attention with his tweet. “I was just trying to get your attention…how is serena and olympia,” he said. 

For now, it would be interesting to see if Alexis Ohanian will continue the latest argument with the user. But one thing is clear: Ohanian is not just a determined entrepreneur, but also a witty individual who knows how to slam naysayers.
