Taylor Townsend’s elder sister Symone Townsend was a tennis player in college and she earned some good statistics in the sport. Born to parents Sheila and Gary Townsend, Symone Townsend grew up with her younger sister in Chicago. Symone’s initial motivation to play tennis was her mother Sheila Townsend, who played second-division tennis during her studies at Lincoln University. Symone Townsend played tennis at Florida A&M College. After moving to Florida for college, Symone Townsend became the number one Lady Rattlers of her college.

While Symone Townsend was about to bloom her career, an injury took her dreams away. She was playing tennis with her younger sister Taylor Townsend and hurt her knee seriously. This injury stopped her from playing tennis again. Once Taylor Townsend’s mother Sheila Townsend commented: “It was like a Williams sisters things. Symone was actually better than Taylor.” Despite such an unfortunate end of her career, Symone Townsend motivates her young sister to maintain good statistics and perform well. She was also a student under coach Donald Young with his sister, Taylor Townsend.

Symone Townsend performed well in her college tennis tournaments. From 2012 to 2013, Symone Townsend was a freshman in female tennis at Florida A&M College. However, in 2013, she graduated as a sophomore. Symone earned her junior title in 2014 and after staying as a junior for a year, Symone became a senior in 2015.  As mentioned before, she became the Lady Rattlers’s number-one tennis player.
