‘Whoa…..’-Chris Evert Reacts to Martina Navratilova’s Analysis of Serena Williams’ Comeback Performance in Wimbledon Championship 2022

Serena Williams returned to the tour after a long hiatus of almost one year. The 40-year-old was out of action after a hamstring injury she incurred in the first round of Wimbledon Championships 2021. She shocked everyone after announcing her plans to play in the Wimbledon Championships. However, her return did not last long as the 40-year-old lost a close match against Harmony Tan and crashed out of the tournament.

Even though she lost the match, the world took notice of her unmatched passion and love for the game. Making a return at this age and almost pulling off a win in the very first match shows her dedication and love for the game. Reacting to her match, former tennis star Martina Navratilova praised Serena. Her friend and Fellow American legend, Chris Evert, also reacted to it.

Chris Evert reacts to Martina Navratilova’s comments on Serena

Serena fought hard in her match against the 24-year-old Frenchwoman. However, she could not end on the winning side. Serena’s gameplay hugely impressed Martina Navratilova, who was covering the match on BBC. Notably, the 65-year-old said that the Williams was playing well, and she could have won the tournament if she could have managed to win her first match.

Evert, once wrote an open letter to Serena when she was just 24.The 18-time Grand Slam champion advised the American,  to focus more on tennis and let go of the distractions.

The American is going to lose all her ranking points that she earned last year due to her lengthy injury layoff. Further, Serena will move out of the WTA ranking chart after the Wimbledon Championships.
