America’s famous tennis duo, Venus and Serena Williams have enjoyed an illustrated tennis career. However, the younger Williams has evolved from the sports, the elder one still has a little left. But their father has done a lot for their magnificent careers.

Nevertheless, not every sports person likes their father’s interference with their careers. And why not? He is the reason behind these tennis legends. However, Former World number one, Lindsay Davenport, once talked about her father’s negative viewpoint.

Lindsay Davenport slams King Richard

Back in 2001, when Williams’ sister had started gaining recognition regarding their race and gender, King Richard was cited as their daughter’s spokesperson more often to keep them out of the controversy. At that time, their arch rival Davenport took a stand and said something that was not accepted by anyone as it was against the father of the legendary duo.

She shared her less favorable opinion on their father’s interference, and said, “I can’t imagine if my dad got out there and danced what you guys would write, It seems like he probably gets away with more than others. Why don’t you criticize him?” She even stated a comparison between her father and King Richard and asked the media a very crucial question of that time.

During that time, the arguments were about the endorsement deals; she was in favor of Venus and Serena Williams but she argued that race was not a factor of of having less or more endorsements. Every athlete, regardless of their race, was creating good money and getting what they deserved.

Venus and Serena Williams played their last doubles at the US Open

Earlier this year, the 23 time Grand Slam champion announced her retirement from the sport. She played her last tournament at this year’s US Open, in which she hung up her racket after her third round as she faced defeat. However, for the last time, the Williams’ sister took part in the doubles match at the tournament before her retirement.

They have together won various accolades for doubles, but at the flushing meadow; they lost in the first round and were not able to advance any further. But it was a great opportunity for the tennis fans to see the Williams sisters one last time play together.
