As Serena Williams gears up to play her last Major tournament, tennis experts have paid their tribute to the American. Former tennis star and expert, John McEnroe, also analyzed the impact the 40-year-old brought on the game. He also analyzed her legendary journey and her chances of going into the US Open.
Meanwhile, McEnroe also reacted to a scene from the film King Richard, which portrays his first meeting with the Williams sisters.

John McEnroe on the accuracy of scene
McEnroe recalled his first meeting with the Williams sisters. He explained that the film did not portray the scene accurately.
“It’s incorrect. I didn’t walk away in disgust, refuse to see Serena. That’s all I’m saying. I was there. Saw them,” he said. Explaining further, he said, “Why would I walk away after being told that I’m going to see two kids, 8 and 9, that are going to be future number ones, like, I refuse to see these kids, for what? Because I’m a hothead. But that’s not correct.”

Later, the legend recalled his interaction with his coach and Richard Williams on the same day. “I was practicing on and then being told by my then-coach Paul Cohen and Richard Williams that her and Venus were going to be the two best players in the world. It was like call me in 10 years, we’ll see what’s happening,” he said.
McEnroe further remembered the time Serena won her first Grand Slam. “her winning the U.S. Open the first time, it’s hard to forget that, with the braids and everything,” he concluded.

As Serena wraps up her illustrious career, McEnroe was full of praise for the 40-year-old. Speaking of her achievements, the former tennis star hailed her as “the greatest player that ever lived.” Speaking of her journey, the American said went through a lot and faced many adversities.
Further, in Serena’s praise, the legend said she has been an inspiration to many athletes, especially from the African-American community.
