Former world no.1 and 23-time Grand Slam champion Serena Williams always shared a great friendship with legendary Formula One driver, Lewis Hamilton. The American supported Hamilton by attending all his races and lauded the British racer on multiple occasions.

Last year at the French Open, the American was asked about Lewis Hamilton and the praise he had sent her way.

Well, I’m a little surprised that Lewis just spoke highly of me. Lewis and I are super close. I’ve known him for years, and we just, I love that guy, he’s a really good friend of mine. The guy is such a champion, he has such a champion’s mindset”.

The 23-time major champion also considered Hamilton to be the ‘greatest driver’ and hoped for the British racer to break records.

‘He says what he says’ –  Serena on Hamilton

He lives his life on his sleeve. He’s very emotional. He says what he says. That’s just who he is. He doesn’t care who you are so, that’s one thing I’ve grown to really appreciate about him as well”, concluded the American.

Coming to tennis, Serena Williams recently pulled out of the Australian Open next year as she wasn’t completely fit. The American’s quest for the 24th major title will take place at the 2022 French Open.

But, before the start of Roland Garros, it remains to be seen whether Serena decides to take part in any of the hard-court events to bring in more match practice before the clay season starts.
