Richard Williams, the father of the American tennis iconic duo, Venus and Serena Williams, has constantly supported his daughters throughout their illustrated tennis career. He would always join his daughters for their tennis matches and practices. But in addition to inspiring his daughter, he also had a remarkable influence on American actor Will Smith.

Recently in an interview, the American actor who portrayed William’s father, the main role in the movie ‘King Richard’ talked about various aspects of the movie and opened up about King Richard’s parenting style including what made him inclined toward the particular movie role.

Talking about King Richard’s parenting style, He said, “That was a new parenting idea for me of alining with your children verses directing your children. It was a very very different concept and approach that was magical in the Williams’ family. The rules were set but the rules that were established were divine rules.”

Nevertheless, he further talked about how it felt like a team-building effort in his ways of parenting. He said, “Faith was at the center and it was a collective journey we were going on. It wasn’t that as a parent I know and you don’t, so you’re going to do what I say because I’m right and you’re little.” As a parent himself, he said it was an eye-opening experience and a whole new method that he would have never thought of.
