The biopic, ‘King Richard’ based on the life of Richard Williams, father of Venus and Serena Williams is soon hitting theatres. The renowned American actor, Will Smith is playing the lead role of Richard Williams. In a recent talk show, Smith talked about his incredible experience of working on this special project.

‘King Richard’ is certainly creating a lot of excitement among the tennis fans. The biopic starring Will Smith as the lead actor will release on the silver screen on 19th November 2021. Just ahead of the release, Will Smith has been attending a lot of talk shows. In one of the shows, Smith said he learned about a lot of things including Serena and Venus’ love for Richard Williams.

The lead actor stated, ” It was such a beautiful journey for me. The thing that I noticed was how much his daughters love him. There was a certain amount of brutality that Richard Williams and my father suffered that created a certain hardness and endurance. And then sort of blending that with my own parenting style.”

Talking about the responsibility as a parent, Smith said, ” It’s my job to nurture and water them into becoming what they already are. To grow into what they are versus being an image of something that I need for me to feel good about my parenting.”

It seems like by getting into the shoes of Richard Williams, Smith has learned enough about the lives of Williams’ family. Will Smith also highlighted the similarities between the parenting style of Richard Williams with his father.

Who is playing Venus and Serena’s roles?

‘King Richard’ portrays the young Serena and Venus. In the biopic, the 15-years old Saniyya Sidney is playing the role of Venus Williams, while 14-years American Demi Singleton will be fitting the role of Serena Williams. From the trailer, it looks both the young girls have devoted their 100% to the movie.

Moreover, Serena and Venus herself praised the young actors’, as they got emotional after watching the movie. Both the players confessed the movie wouldn’t have been such a masterpiece without Will Smith, Demi Singleton, and Saniyya Sidney.
