It’s been less than a month since ‘King Richard’ made its silver screen debut, and the movie is already making strong statements. Recently, the American Film Institute crowned the biopic among the top 10 films of the year.

‘King Richard’ displays the illustrious journey of Richard Williams, father of Venus and Serena Williams. Richard, through his commitments and determination, produced two of the finest female tennis players of all time. Venus and Serena Williams have won 30 singles Grand Slam titles combined.

‘King Richard’ awarded as top 10 movies of the year

‘King Richard’ was released on 19th November 2021 in theatres, and was widely loved. The American actor, Will Smith is playing the lead role of Richard Williams. Furthermore, teen actors Saniyya Sidney and Demi Singleton got the golden chance to play Venus Williams and Serena Williams respectively.

Recently, the American Film Institute released its top 10 films of the year. Unsurprisingly, ‘King Richard’ has found its place in the list.

Serena Williams shared this success with fans

As soon as ‘King Richard’ was earned this accomplishment, Serena Williams took to Instagram to share her happiness with her fans. Williams looked extremely happy to be a part of the journey.

The 23-time Grand Slam champion was overjoyed that a film about her and Venus’s career had been produced. After watching the film, the sisters were overwhelmed, and were delighted to see Saniyya and Demi play their parts.
