Elena Rybakina has had a dream campaign at the recently concluded Wimbledon Championships. She lifted her maiden Grand Slam title on arguably the biggest stage of tennis. Rybakina defeated Ons Jabeur in a thrilling summit clash to lift the Venus Rosewater Dish for the first time. The Kazakhstan tennis star overcame all odds to win the biggest title of her career.

However, this victory has come on the back of some consistent performances throughout this season. Earlier this year, she made it to the final of the Adelaide International 1 tournament, losing against Ashleigh Barty in the summit clash. Further, she also reached the quarterfinals in Indian Wells. Recently, Rybakina opened up about her inspiration in tennis.

Elena Rybakina draws inspiration from Roger Federer

During a question-and-answer session on Instagram, the Kazakh tennis star was asked about who was her inspiration in tennis. Replying to this question, she said, “Always like how Roger Federer is playing. His game is amazing but yeah, except him, I was just enjoying watching the matches no matter who plays and yeah, it’s just a joy to watch any matches especially when it’s a great fight.”

Not only Rybakina, the Swiss maestro has been an inspiration for many. Such has been the stature of Federer that he has impressed one and all with his audacious displays over the years. Off late, he has been away from tennis due to a knee injury. However, Federer hopes to come back to the tour stronger than ever later this year.

Russian Federation congratulates Rybakina

The President of the Russian Tennis Federation, Shamil Tarpischev, congratulated Rybakina on winning the Wimbledon Championships 2022. He said, “It’s fantastic, well done Elena! We won the Wimbledon tournament!”
