Venus Williams is one of the most acclaimed WTA players. Seven Grand Slam Singles titles and 14 Grand Slam Doubles show her accomplishments in the sport. Despite winning so many titles, even the elder Williams sibling is someone who has a few regrets. She shared one recently on her YouTube channel, and it includes riffing on an old mixed doubles partner.

As Williams shared a regret of hers jokingly that was related to her on-court life, she also talked about her off-court regrets. Venus Williams revealed how she is remorseful about not learning a skill from her mother, Oracene Price.

Williams has won five Wimbledon titles in her career, making up for most of the seven in her trophy cabinet. She also won six Doubles Grand Slam titles with her sister, Serena Williams, by her side. However, she has yet to win a mixed doubles title, though she came painfully close to clinching one with Bob Bryan, back in 2006. Talking about the same, she recently uploaded a video on her YouTube channel where she met with Bryan after a long time and jokingly blamed him for not winning it.

I’m getting to play with my old partner Bob Bryan, one of the only other people I’ve played with besides Serena, and we got to a Wimbledon final once. We got close to winning, um, and if we would have won that match I would have had all three titles at Wimbledon. I blame Bob. Just to let you know so Bob, ‘Still mad at you’.”

However, despite the playful banter, all seems to be well between the duo as Williams then went on to appreciate Bryan saying that he still serves great. She then expressed her wish to play with him again. Although jokingly, Queen V does remember her 2006 debacle as a sore loss. It became one of her few in her career. Now, talking about her off-court shenanigans, the star shared another remorseful aspect of her life.

Former number 1 regrets not learning skill from mother

Oracene Price was instrumental in uplifting both the Williams sisters. Along with her husband, Richard Williams, Price ensured that both would learn properly and emerge as some of the greatest tennis players the world has ever seen. However, Venus Williams’ professional career aside, she had also taken a keen interest to sewing. But as fate would have it, her interest didn’t transition into a skill. And perhaps, that is one thing the older Williams sibling regrets not learning.

Though she watched Price sew throughout her life, the star player didn’t really find time to dedicate to learning the skill. As revealed by Williams, had she been able to find some free time, she would definitely give try her hand at it. Making patterns is a joy for her, and sewing is one way she can express that joy properly. While Williams didn’t learn the skill itself, she learned about how to check for proper construction of clothes, which is a skill one needs if one is a fashion icon.
