The Wimbledon Championships 2022 has seen some eye-catching tennis action over the last few days. Top tennis stars in the world are battling it out to attain glory on the grass courts. This year’s tournament also saw the return of the 23-time Grand Slam champion, Serena Williams.

The younger Williams sister received a wildcard entry to participate in the singles event at Wimbledon. It was her first singles match after a year on the sidelines. She last played at this very tournament in the previous season. Serena’s Wimbledon 2022 campaign ended in the first round after losing against Harmony Tan in a three-set thriller. Recently, tennis legend Martina Navratilova expressed her feelings about the match between Serena and Tan.

Earlier this week, the 65-year-old took to Twitter to select her favorite match of this year’s Wimbledon Championships. She said, “Sonego. That was a good match. For drama Tan-Williams takes the cake so far IMO.”

Indeed, it was a thrilling match between Serena and Tan. The Frenchwoman began the match on the front foot and took the opening set 7-5. However, Serena came back strongly to level the match by winning the second set, 6-1.

Further, the deciding set was a closely fought affair. Tan won some crucial points in the super-tiebreaker to win the set 7-6 (10-7) and advance to the next round.

Serena to deliver a speech at the Black Tech Week in Cincinnati

Recently, Serena announced that she will participate in the Black Tech Week in Cincinnati as a keynote speaker. Talking on this subject on Twitter, she said, “Excited to be at @BlackTechWeek with (Lightship Foundation) this year as they empower Black founders everywhere.”
